The Fortnite Metallica Cup, the game’s newest competitive event, begins today. This event enables participants to obtain a brand new Metallica-themed Emote. The Fortnite x Metallica crossover began with the release of update 30.10 last week, and while it has resulted in the Metallica Fortnite Festival Pass and a slew of other themed content (such as the Ride the Lightning guitar in Battle Royale), Epic Games appears to be far from done. Later today, Fortnite will launch the Fortnite Metallica Cup, a squad-based competitive event in which players may win free gear.
The in-game sidebar indicates that the Fortnite Metallica Cup will begin today (Tuesday, June 18) at 6 pm BST / 1 pm EDT / 10 am PDT. The event will last three hours, ending at 9 p.m. BST, 4 p.m. EDT, and 1 p.m. PDT. During this time, players can participate in up to ten matches to get a high enough score (this means you can’t cheat the system by joining and instantly tossing enough matches to go up the leaderboard). Players who earn a high enough rank will be granted the Ringer Emote for free ahead of its release in the Fortnite Item Shop in the near future.

How to join Fortnite Metallica Cup
To participate in the Fortnite Metallica Cup, go to the main menu’s ‘Compete’ option and select the Metallica Cup tab. You can return to the Mode selection option in the ‘Play’ tab. Look for the ‘By Epic’ tab and then select the Fortnite Metallica Cup. From there, all you have to do is queue up for games and you will be competing.

Rewards
Players who participate in the Fortnite Metallica Cup will have the opportunity to earn the ‘Ringer’ Emote. This Emote depicts your character hammering a bell with a hammer while the beginning of Metallica’s For Whom the Bell Tolls plays in the background. This Emote is awarded based on your Cup placement, which is also determined by your location. Here’s where you’ll need to place on the Metallica Cup leaderboard in each area.
- Asia – 1st – 500th
- Brazil – 1st – 500th
- Europe – 1st – 2600th
- Middle East – 1st – 200th
- North America – 1st – 2000th
- Oceania – 1st – 200th
If you don’t place high enough or simply don’t want to compete in the Fortnite Metallica Cup, you can still get the Ringer Emote from the Item Shop later (but it won’t be free). Given that the Master of Puppets Emote, which has been in the game for some time, costs 500 V-Bucks, we would expect the Ringer Emote to be roughly the same price.
