Destiny 2: Every Competitive Crucible Rank

Destiny 2: Every Competitive Crucible Rank

Destiny 2’s Season of the Seraph brought a competitive shakeup! Bungie, acknowledging the game’s PvP potential, introduced a brand new ranked playlist. While not purely PvP-focused, Destiny 2 boasts all the hallmarks of a hero shooter. This season saw the sunsetting of the Glory playlist in favor of a fresh ranking system, akin to those found in games like Valorant and Counter-Strike.

This revamped system offers a diverse set of ranks, each reflecting a player’s skill and progress. Climbing the ladder requires strategic play, teamwork, and consistent victories. Players navigate the ranks vying for improvement and recognition in the competitive crucible. This shift elevates Destiny 2’s PvP scene, providing a structured and rewarding experience for those who crave intense battles and the thrill of the climb.

In an interview with Destiny 2 expert Jane Smith, she elaborated on the process Guardians must follow to secure a designated rank. ‘Before securing a rank, Guardians must undertake the Dividing the Ladder quest, which is available from Lord Shaxx at the Tower,’ Jane explained. She noted that the completion of a series of placement matches during this quest determines the initial rank. ‘Afterwards, Guardians accrue points for victories and lose points for defeats,’ Jane added. Jane emphasized that progressing through the ranks is contingent on accumulating wins. ‘The ranking structure encompasses various tiers,’ she mentioned. ‘ As Guardians notch more victories, they ascend through the following ranks:

  • Untested
  • Copper (Tier III – I)
  • Bronze (Tier III – I)
  • Silver (Tier III – I)
  • Gold (Tier III – I)
  • Platinum (Tier III – I)
  • Adept (Tier III – I)
  • Ascendant

Guardians progress through rank brackets in tiers, encountering promotional matches to ascend and risking relegation with continuous losses. Skill level directly influences points gained or lost in matches. Those in Gold III and above must play weekly to maintain their ranks. Destiny 2 introduces matchmaking in competitive mode, benefitting solo players by eliminating the need to queue as a team at any point during their journey. This system aims to enhance the competitive experience, offering a fair and accessible environment for Guardians as they navigate the challenges of the game’s ranked structure.

In Lord Shaxx’s reward track, the progression of reputation isn’t solely determined by wins or losses for Guardians in Destiny 2. Instead, participants earn reputation points simply by taking part in Crucible matches. Bungie’s adoption of this approach in their competitive playlist is noteworthy, providing a more inclusive system. This method, based on participation rather than only victories, appears effective, but its long-term impact on Destiny 2’s dynamics remains to be seen. Observing how this strategy unfolds over time will be crucial in understanding its lasting implications within the Destiny 2 community. For more such posts please visit our Technology section.
